“I love cooking and being able to cook in my spacious and modern kitchen. We try to cook at home a few times a week. Spaghetti and meatballs, salmon and raspberry pie.”

Move over, Martha Stewart! Hello, David and Toyosi Giwa, two residents here at Boulevard with an appetite for life, fantastic company and cooking up delicious food. When COVID-19 brought their travel to a halt, the two turned to their home at Sunset at Boulevard to create their private paradise.

David and Toyosi’s large, modern kitchen became the scene for Toyosi’s new Instagram channel, @toyosieatsfood, where she shows off how to make delicious creations like Nigerian jollof rice and perfectly baked chocolate chip cookies (hint: her cookies feature crinkled crispy edges with a chewy center). And she even started new traditions with her two sisters, who moved in to join their quarantine pod (and presumably to eat all that good food too).

“We have a Saturday movie night, and the open-concept floor plans make preparing dinner and watching TV at the same time very easy.”

And while David and Toyosi could not have predicted how the world would change when they moved into their home in February of 2020, choosing a home at Boulevard turned out to be the perfect fit because of the room they have to grow.

“There’s just so much space! We turned our garage into a workout area. And when I say ‘we,’ I give all credit to my husband. We have a Peloton Bike+, a Peloton Tread+, a large mat for floor exercises like HIIT and a mounted TV to play Apple Fitness+℠ or Pilates class workouts. The garage is so well insulated that I never feel too cold or too hot while exercising.”

Both work for big tech in Silicon Valley and hop a shuttle right here in the neighborhood, so the convenience of living at Boulevard couldn’t be any easier. They’re also close enough to their friends in Oakland and San Francisco and love being next to all the great shopping.

“It’s not too far from anything. With BART just a short walk away, we don’t even have to drive if we want to. Stoneridge mall is seven minutes away. And then the Outlets less than 10 minutes away. It’s a shopper’s dream. We love being close to all these things.”

In the meantime, staying home and taking it easy is the dream. David and Toyosi are all about enjoying the simple things, like walking Watson, their adorable Australian Shepherd puppy, around the neighborhood. Toyosi even spoils him with homemade dog treats.

“We love our Friday date nights together and can’t wait to decorate our balcony to enjoy the fresh breeze.”
